It was a pleasure to have Bobby D Sawyer back on stage at the Bootscooters Social. Bobby is such a friendly pleasant guy who is very popular with the ladies and last night was no exception.
Such a great entertainer, Bobby kept the dancers happy with songs such as Toes and Cabo San Lucas to mention just a couple. He has great interaction with the audience, unfortunatley he was sporting rather a bad leg injury which stopped him jumping off the stage as normal, but this didn't deter from an excellent performance.
We were joined by Chrissy Byrne and Liz Raey (formerly Blue Orchid) - again it was Liz this time sporting a broken ankle and was in a wheelchair. Having first met Bobby at the Bronze Club it was lovely to have them back supporting Bobby- this time in the audience.
Chrissy by request brought along her Hunks & Chunks callendars all proceeds being in aid of Bone Marrow Cancer research so it was nice for the Bootscooters to help a little towards the cause by getting people to throw £l coins to get closest to a whisky bottle to win it, luckily it was a Bootscooter who won, well done Pat.
The raffle again had over 30 prizes which included a couple of Chrissy's callenders, lucky people who won them. These callenders are certainly worth every penny of the £8.50, they have great entertainment value, seeing artists as you've never seen them before and probably won't ever see them like again !!!!!
A light supper was provided being a couple of varieties of soup with crusty bread followed by several varieties of cheesecake and cake with cream and icecream. It was nice to have a lovely hot cup of soup on such a cold evening.
Even though it was a little early in the Month a Halloween Theme was adopted and the room dressed accordingly. It was great to see so many people making the effort to get dressed up, although there were a few rather 'sarcastic remarks' about my attire - just as well I knew they were joking.
All in all it was another fabulous Bootscooter Social with a great audience, superb act and generally brilliant atmosphere. As always I must add a big thank you to the following people.
Dave and Pat Hughes, Mavis and Brian Ravenscroft, Mike and Hilary Kealy and not forgetting Holly for all their help, setting up, serving food and cleaning up etc.
Also an enourmous THANK YOU to you people for buying tickets and as always supporting the Bootscooters you are Diamonds!!!
