February 5th - 8th.
This was probably our best short break holiday up to date, everyone who went keeps telling us, but we do of course tend to agree.
44 of us left the Wirral on Friday 5th at 8 o'clock in the morning on a Mike De'Courcey coach abley driven by Ady our driver. We had a number of stops en route to Torquay and eventually arrived at the Inglewood hotel at approximately 3.30 in the afternoon. We were met by the duty Manager of day Sue who welcomed us and gave short talk on the coach regarding all the facilities currently provided by the hotel.
It was then room allocation time and off to explore our rooms, which were clean and tidy and extremely warm. Some of us having lovely balconies looking out over the bay of Torquay.
After a short relaxation, it was to the main lounge bar for a sherry reception and then on to evening meal, which was superb, as were all the meals. They were well served by friendly and pleasant staff who couldn't have done any more to please.
Entertainment was provided for the 3 nights with a variety of music played for all types of dancing including line dancing and especially on the Friday and Saturday evenings when the acts were brilliant.
On our 2 half day coach trips out, which were both included in the holiday-Saturday morning was rather special when we were given a conducted tour by Phil Tarr of Torquay Travel on our way Brixham and surrounding areas. The weather was especially nice and sunny, with beautiful blue sky and surprisingly warm for the time of year. For our trip on Sunday it was a little colder, nevertheless the trip was most enjoyable along the coast to the beautiful seaside resort of Teignmouth for sightseeing and shopping.
For our linedancing on Saturday, we were fortunate to have Kim Aldis come along to teach us some new dances. Kim was our instructor last year at Woolacombe and took the opportunity to come and see us whilst visiting her grandchildren who live in Torquay, so it was lovely to see her again and a real nice surprise to those who didn't know she was coming.
Many took the opportunity to enjoy a walk round the beautiful bay of Torquay and of course a trip up to the shops for the ladies, and some of the gentlemen, as I believe there was a very nice Wetherspoons locally.
Sunday was party night where fun and games were had by all and the hotel really made an effort to make the holiday complete on your final night.
All too soon it was time to leave for our return journey home, but not until we'd all eaten a hearty breakfast. I think we all felt a little sad, as we'd had such a fabulous time and would most certainly recommend this hotel and trip to anyone.
On our return journey Ady our coach driver stopped as requested by many people at the Garden and Gift Centre just off the M5, where they bought last minute gifts to take home. Towards the end of our journey Geoff Marley provided yet again an excellent quiz which most people took part in. The winners being Pam, Jo and Terry who had 100% score (think it was a fiddle) and Dave and Elaine Mills coming a close 2nd.
Finally, Bill and I would like to thank you for your generosity in the wonderful gift you gave us.
We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and the people who went on it helped to make it a brilliant weekend never to be forgotten.
Hope the pictures capture the fun the weekend for you, but if you do have any, please let me have a copy to put on the website.
Thank you all, once again.
Bill and Brenda.
